Sermon Tuesday with Lewis Sperry Chafer Mar. 10, 2015

Tuesdays are a weekly presentation of a select sermon from the vast Christian history that we enjoy.  For the next several months, I will present Lewis Sperry Chafer, one of the richest blessings God has given His church here in America.  The founder of Dallas Theological Seminary, prolific author (see a collection of his works now in the public domain at, and Christian gentleman, Lewis Sperry Chafer’s legacy of Biblical exegesis and impact on the theological disciplines are unmatched in the modern age.

Here, Lewis Sperry Chafer continues the second part of his examination of the Sermon on the Mount, and interprets the passage according to sound hermeneutics.  Note his consistent reference to understanding the passage by its context and his application of Biblical prophecy to the contemporary dilemma of the creation of the state of Israel.  Specifically, note that he differentiates between the Gospel of the Kingdom and the Gospel of Grace as separate and distinct concepts and messages.  Very inspiring and enlightening!  Please enjoy!

  1. LS Chafer was my spiritual grandfather. Listening to his sermons makes me nostalgic, and also feeds my soul, even these many years gone from his passing. His analysis is right on. Keep these coming, Lewis.
